Today’s edition of Face Off Friday is a green one, as we put two hybrid models up against each other: the Honda Accord Hybrid vs. the Ford Fusion Hybrid. We’re going to take a look at all the eco-friendly features each has to offer and see if they not only help save the earth, but your wallet, as well.

Honda Accord Hybrid
The Accord Hybrid gets an awesome 50 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway thanks to the Lithium-Ion battery that helps power it, along with a 141hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Additional economic features include Direct Ignition System with Immobilizer, Honda Eco Assist, which displays fuel efficiency information and an ECON button that automatically configures the car to optimize fuel efficiency. Honda also includes safety features like Honda Lane Watch, Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning, and additional highlights such as USB, Bluetooth, Push Button Start, HondaLink, smart entry and alloy wheels. Staring price for the Accord is $29,155.

Ford Fusion Hybrid
The Ford Fusion Hybrid gets an impressive 47mpg both in the city and on the highway by way of its 188hp 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle inline-4 cylinder engine and hybrid lithium-ion battery. Up to 85 miles can be traveled on battery power alone. It also has economy features like regenerative braking, which reuses up to 90 percent of the heat energy back into the hybrid battery, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission that offers greater efficiency and exterior design notes that reduce drag to improve efficiency. Additional highlights include Blind Spot Information, Lane Keeping System, Active Park Assist, rear view camera, leather wrapped steering wheel, automatic headlamps, intelligent access with push button start, MyKey, Sync with MyFord and fog lamps. Starting price for the Ford Fusion Hybrid is $27, 280.

Yet another close call on Face Off Friday, both of these models offer basically the same fuel economy, and plenty of safety and efficiency features. Although the price tag on the Fusion Hybrid is a bit more attractive up front, the Accord Hybrid offers a substantial amount of features standard on the base model.
