The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is making waves as a strong competitor to the Porsche 911 and Audi R8.
The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT comes from a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 AMG engine making 456-hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 7-speed AMG Dual Clutch transmission and a rear-wheel-drive setup, the AMG GT goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. The AMG GT S uses the same engine, however power has been increased to 503-hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 for the AMG GT S comes in just 3.7 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz has now announced plans to offer a racing version of the AMG GT called the AMG GT3, which is expected to launch in 2016. While details are being kept under the wraps, the AMG GT3 will definitely be a more hardcore version of the AMG GT.
The AMG GT3 will be a successor to the SLS AMG GT3, which Mercedes said racked up 34 overall victories, six championships titles and two endurance wins. The SLS AMG GT3 also had 52 class victories and 101 podium finishes.
