Today we are putting two stunning luxury, sporty convertibles head to head with the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible and the Jaguar F-Type Convertible. Both of these sports cars have quick engines, sleek lines and soft touch materials. Which one comes out on top for you?

F-Type Convertible (Starting Price: $69,000)

Powering the F-Type to start is a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that makes 340hp and 450 lbs-ft of torque mated to an 8-speed quick shift transmission. Both a 380hp 3.0-liter and a 495hp 5.0-liter V8 are available, as well. The 340 engine has a 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds and a 161 mph top speed. Making the best use of all that power are performance features like a sports suspension, sports exhaust, Jaguar Performance braking system and a set of center-mounted exhaust pipes.

Exterior features include a set of 18-inch Vela silver alloy wheels, deployable door handles that rest flush against the door, Bi-function HID Xenon headlamps, switchable active exhaust, a deployable rear spoiler and a wind deflector.

On the inside, Jaguar offers sport seats with leather and suedecloth, a 3 spoke leather steering wheel with black gear shift panels, Light Hex aluminum console finisher, Blind Spot Monitor with Closing Vehicle Sensing, Configurable Ambient Interior lighting and dual zone automatic climate control.

Corvette Stingray Convertible (Starting Price: $58,000)

Chevrolet’s re-introduction of the Stingray gets its power from a 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes 455hp and 460lb-ft of torque. This can be mated to either the standard 7-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed Paddle Shift automatic. It has an impressive 0-60mph time of 3.8 seconds and comes with launch control and active rev matching.

The Corvette comes with exterior features like a carbon-fiber hood, aluminum frame structure, daytime running lights, HID headlamps, performance exhaust and 18-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels and a full-power convertible hood.

Inside the Corvette Stingray Convertible is a pair of 8-way power seats with leather surfaces and options like keyless access with push-button start, a rear view camera, drive mode selector, heated and vented seats, a color head-up display, custom leather-wrapped interior, Nappa leather, and an extensive performance package that offers everything from 19-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires to performance gear ratios.

This week’s comparison is certainly a good looking drop-top looking showcase. The Stingray offers a much lower starting price and gives up more power for the money, however the Jaguar has some great luxury features to compliment its sport-driven foundation. With the Stingray being such a controversial model, it’s entirely possible that many would take the Jaguar over it, however the Vette’s value can’t be denied.
