The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has sparked controversy since it was first unveiled, and still proves to be a sore spot among some enthusiasts. On the other hand, many have openly embraced the return of the Stingray, for both its aesthetic appeal and impressive power. Whatever side of the fence you rest on, or even if this is your first extensive encounter with the model, we have all the details here.

Since this is a performance driven model, it’s only right that we start here. A 6.2-liter V8 offers up 455hp @6000rpms (460hp with the available performance exhaust) 460 lb-ft of torque @4600 rpms, that transfers all that power to the rear wheels by way of a 7-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching, or an optional 6-speed with paddle shifters. This takes the Corvette from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds. Chevy swapped out the steel frame for an aluminum space frame, and used carbon-nano-composite and carbon-fiber components to reduce weight, which comes in at 3,298lbs. Magnetic Selective Ride Control also comes into play to enhance handling abilities the reduced weight makes way for. There are 5 different driving modes to adapt to a variety of situations, as well. Last up in the performance category is the Stingray’s Performance Data Recorder, an extensive in-vehicle system that allows drivers to record a vast array of performance information and stats.

Extra performance enhancements through the lineup include upgraded shocks, springs, stabilizer bars, tires, Performance Traction Management, HD Cooling, differential and transmission cooling.

Interior features vary across the range, but start with 8-way power leather seats, two 8-inch HD color displays, push-button start, rear view camera, drive mode selector, three seat color options and a 9-speaker Bose audio system. Additionally available are heated and vented seats with emblems, Universal home remote, memory package, color head-up display, custom leather-wrapped interior, navigation, Nappa leather seating and launch control.

Exterior features start with keyless access, a carbon fiber hood and body color carbon fiber removable roof. In addition, Chevy offers auto-dimming mirrors, 19-inch wheels up front and 20-inches in the rear, Aero package, slotted brake rotors and larger brakes.

With 6 different variants to choose from, the Stingray ranges in price from $53,000 to $65,005. Chevrolet’s lack of convention and attention to detail with creating this model shows, no matter your opinion, that the automaker took time and care in bringing the Stingray back to life.
