BMW is coming up on celebrating its 100th anniversary and the rumormill suggests that the company is planning something big to celebrate its centennial year.

New rumors suggest that BMW is working on creating a high-performance version of the i8 – internally known as the M100. The model is rumored to be called the i8S and will be sportier than the current i8 with a bunch of extra exterior and interior design upgrades.

Automobile Magazine says that there will be increased performance, a retuned suspension and beefier brakes. All the performance figures are being kept under the wraps for now but rumors suggest a 320-hp 2.0 liter 4-cylinder twin turbo engine is being considered along with a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine making around 480-hp. Of course there will be an electric-motor that will drive the front wheels and should develop either 109 or 204 horsepower. 0 to 60 for the BMW i8S will come in around 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

If the rumor is to be true, the BMW i8S will come to the United States in late 2017 with prices starting around 30 percent more than the standard i8. If that is true – get ready to cough up around $175,000 for the BMW i8S.

All we know is that it will be one hell of a machine.
