Porsche and BMW have both recently introduced new models into their line-ups. The Porsche Macan S and the BMW X4 xDrive28i are both entries into the compact SUV segment, but with all those attractive looks and luxury on the table it can be tough to decide. Today we’re going to take a closer look to see which one will give you a better bank for all your bucks.

First up is the Porsche Macan S. A 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that produces 340hp powers this model and it has a 0-62mph time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 156mph. It uses a seven-speed dual clutch transmission to transfer power to all four wheels. Features include self- leveling air suspension, Porsche Traction Management, Porsche Active Suspension Management, VarioCam Plus system, auto start/stop, coasting, a sport button, Bi-Xenon headlights, Burmester surround sound system, sport tailpipes and exhaust, 4.8-inch instrument cluster display, Porsche Car Connect, Porsche Communication Management, Panoramic moon roof, climate control, noise reduction and rain sensing wipers.

Next is the BMW X4 xDrive28i, which is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 240hp. It’s mated to an 8-speed steptronic automatic transmission and gets power to all four of its wheels. Additional performance highlights include EcoPro mode with auto start/stop, electronic throttle control, break energy regeneration and dynamic stability control. Other features for the X4 xDrive28i are iDrive 4.2 with touchpad, Harmon Kardon Surround Sound system, BMW Apps, concierge services, LED headlights with high-beam assistance, full-color heads up display and a moon roof.

The BMW X4 comes with a starting price tag of $44,700, while the Macan starts at $49,900. They both have similar features, and are nicely designed inside and out. Despite its overall sportiness, the BMW is higher up than most models in its class, while the Macan aimed to be lower than the average. The Macan will give you your money’s worth, and has the horsepower to back that statement up, while the BMW may not offer quite as much power, it does come with a lower price tag to make up for it.
