The BMW X6 has been totally redesigned for the 2015 model year with a sportier and more muscular look. The interior has also been upgraded on the company’s niche selling crossover.

“The design of the new BMW X6 body combines the robust presence of a BMW Sports Activity Vehicle with the hallmark sporting elegance of the brand’s Coupes to create an unmistakably athletic appearance,” BMW said in a statement. “The long hood, long wheelbase, short front overhang and set-back passenger compartment are characteristic design features of a BMW. Its high window sill and large wheel arches highlight the Sports Activity Coupe’s ties to the BMW SAV family.”

The new BMW X6 will be available in three trim-levels including X6 sDrive35i, X6 xDrive35i and the X6 xDrive50i.

The first two models will be powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-6 engine making 300-hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Both will run from 0 to 60 mph in just 6 seconds flat thanks to a lower curb weight and other BMW EfficientDynamics enhancement.

The BMW X6 xDrive50i will be powered by BMW’s 4.4 liter V8 engine making 445-hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph will come in just 4.8 seconds.

Along with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the new 2015 BMW X6 features an ECO PRO mode as part of the standard Driving Dynamics Control. In ECO PRO mode, the engine management, accelerator response and transmission characteristics are systematically automated to offer better fuel-efficiency.

With the second-generation model, BMW hopes to sell more of the X6, of which 250,000 units have been sold to date. Sales will start in late 2014. Pricing details will be announced closer to launch.
